They closed the boats rides at Disneyland in the early 90’s to put money into Mickey’s Toon Town. The same thing happened to attractions such as Horizons at EPCOT, Disney execs thought they weren’t making money and had to divert it else where to recapture the public’s attention. Boats were boring after maybe, 30 years or so of solid tradition since 1957. Type Motor Boat Cruise into Wikipedia for the offical blah blah blah on the topic. Hope that answers your question.

That whole intro with the two guys helping the one guy up and one of them dropping him, is almost (almost because in the actual movie the guy’s head was missing) identical to the movie “The Crawling Eye.” Right down to the arrows pointing to the names in the opening credits. (I only know this because it was an episode of MST3k.)
